Pro Bono concert success

On 10th December, Advocate was delighted to hold its seventh annual Christmas Carol Concert in partnership with LawWorks, the pro bono charity for solicitors.

This event has long been a popular highlight on the legal calendar to get into the festive spirit with over 500 people in attendance, making it the perfect way for barristers and chambers colleagues to kick off the Christmas period.

This year tickets sold out several weeks in advance of the event, and over £21,000 has been raised!

This money will be split equally between Advocate and LawWorks, enabling them to continue supporting people who have nowhere else to turn to for help with their legal problems.

Thank you to the wonderful musicians, including Chamber choir Collegium Musicum and classical harpist Helena Ricci, who performed a beautiful solo of Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy by Tchaikovsky. 🎶

A special thank you also to the line-up of celebrity guests who gave the readings this year, including the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, Lady Carr, as well as Elizabeth Hurley, Rachael Stirling and Jon Culshaw - Jon's impromptu rendition of the Only Fools and Horses theme song to the tune of Nessun Dorma was a particularly memorable moment from the night!

Our Chair of Trustees Sharif A. Shivji KC closed the evening by reflecting that "justice is a hollow concept without access to it". A huge thank you to everyone who came along for supporting the work of Advocate and LawWorks!
