About.
Helena Ricci is an award-winning Swiss classical harpist and trailblazing creative entrepreneur based in London. Forging a path outside of the traditional music competition circuit, she is an ambassador for the harp as a solo instrument, pioneering new transcriptions and innovative repertoire programming. Known as an “augmented harpist” (Tribune de Genève, 2024), she blends her creative mind with a vision for forward-thinking concert formats through her MUS!LUX project, merging classical music with technology and art. Helena Ricci is a current City Music Foundation Artist and Stoller Hall Emerging Artist. She won the unique place on the Creative Project Development Residency at the prestigious Verbier Festival Academy 2024. She was featured in an artist portrait by the Swiss national television RTS on the helvetic national day.
Her charismatic stage presence and innate communication with the audience led her to play for HM The King, multiple times at the Royal Opera House, twice at St Martin-in-the-Field and Wigmore Hall as a chamber soloist, in a duo livestreamed concert by the London Symphony Orchestra Discovery, at St George’s Bristol and in the West End. She is a former Hattori Foundation Awardee, DEBUT Horizon, Britten-Pears Young Artist, took part in the prestigious Encuentro de Santander Academy, toured Europe with the Philharmonie der Animato Orchestra. Helena Ricci studied under Imogen Barford as a scholar at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. She is a Master of Music alumna, having graduated with the highest honours.
Helena Ricci’s vision for classical music has its emotional impact and wider audience reach close at heart. Developing her artistic mission through MUS!LUX, she was chosen as one of five European candidates for the Tuning in! Programme of the MDW University in Vienna and the Guildhall Creative Entrepreneurs course. This season she produced and played in her first “Glow in the dark” immersive concert at The Stoller Hall in Manchester, followed by the Harrogate International Festivals (UK).
She plays a vibrant red David harp, made in the Swiss region of Sainte-Croix where luxury watches are made. A keen videographer, her music video on Brian & Roger Eno’s “Cerulean Blue” was selected as the track’s official video and released on the Deutsche Grammophon Youtube channel.
